Polokwane- Peter Mokaba Stadium - 2010 World Cup Venue

Welcome to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Polokwane- Peter Mokaba Stadium page.

The Peter Mokaba Stadium is situated in Polokwane, the capital of the Limpopo province in the north of South Africa. At present, it serves as a football stadium and a venue for international athletic events. Currently, the stadium structure consists of a main stand and three grass banks, however, there are plans to upgrade it in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The goal is to build up the grass embankments to enable them to accomodate 20 rows of FIFA approved bucket seats. A new roof covering the entire western side of the stadium shall also be constructed. An electronic scoreboard, new floodlights, a high quality sound system, fire fighting equipment and a crowd control system will be added.

When the above is done, the stadium shall meet all the FIFA requirements and be a world-class venue both for the 2010 World Cup and for future events.
